The hole entrance is 45 mm which is larger than the standard to allow species such as house sparrows, tree sparrows, starlings and spotted flycatchers.

The hole entrance is 35 mm which is smaller than the larger box above. This will tend to be used by Great tits, Blue tits and Coal tits and is less attractive to house sparrows and tree sparrows. The entrance is too small for starlings.
